私はミステリーとホラーとファンタジーは、

小説の方が良いと思っているタイプです。

いや、もちろんマンガも大好きですよ！

今回は猟奇殺人事件です（ドキドキ）。

I thinks novels are better than comics the mystery, horror and fantasy.

Of course I love comics too!

This time it’s a bizarre murder case.

 

事件の容疑者は、世界的に有名な童話作家である、ハンス・クリスチャン・アンデルセン。

「人魚姫」「おやゆび姫」「マッチ売りの少女」「みにくいアヒルの子」etc・・・・・。

彼の作品は今もなお、世界中で愛され、多くの人に読まれています。

しかし、彼は劇作家や詩人としての将来を望んでいました。

The suspect in the case is Hans Christian Andersen, a world-renowned author of fairy tales.

His works include “The Little Mermaid,” “Thumbelina,” “The Girl with the Matchstick,” “The Hard Duckling,” etc. ・・・・・.

His works are still loved and read by many people around the world.

However, he wanted a future as a playwright and poet.

 

アンデルセンは20歳から亡くなる70歳まで、正確に日記をつけています。

ですが、20歳後半から1年半もの間、全く日記をつけていない時期がありました。

この「空白の時期」の後に、あの有名な作品達が生み出されました。

物語は、彼の「空白の時期」が舞台です。

Andersen kept a diary accurately from the age of 20 until his death at the age of 70.

However, there was a period of one and a half years from the age of about 29 when he did not keep a diary.

It was after this “blank period” that he produced his famous fairy tales.

The story takes place during his “blank period”.

 

なぜ彼が、童話作家になろうと決意したのか？

どのような経緯があって、あの素晴らしい作品達は生み出されたのか？

今となっては、誰も知る事が出来ません。

「好きな事と得意な事は違う」

Why did he decide to become a writer of children’s stories?

How did he come up with those wonderful stories?

No one will ever know now.

“What I like to do and what I am good at are two different things”.

 

彼は童話作家として売れるまでは、とても苦しい生活を送っていました。

理想と現実の差に苦しみ、自分の才能に悩み、

それでも歩き続けた、一人の人間でした。

特別な才能を持つ、選ばれた人ではなかったのです。

He had a very difficult life before he became a successful writer of children’s stories.

He struggled with the gap between his ideals and reality and worried about his talents.

But he kept walking.

He was not an outstanding person with special talents.

 

人は誰でも「変化」を望みます。

しかし、「変化」を促すのは「今の自分」であり、

行動を起こすのも「今の自分」です。

「変化」の先にある「喜び」。

Everyone desires “change”.

However, “change” is prompted by “the present self,

and “action” is driven by “the present self” too.

“The Joy” after “change”.

 

その「喜び」は、自分の為だけだと、取り返しのつかない悲劇を生みます。

歩む道を間違わないように、「太志」はあるのですね。

「人魚姫」のもととなった衝撃の事実。

「マッチ売りの少女」の悲しい結末。

That “the joy” can create tragedy if it is only for myself.

So “KOKOROZASHI” is there to make sure that we do not make a mistake in the path we take.

The shocking fact that became the basis of “The Little Mermaid”.

The sad ending of “The Girl Who Sold Matches”.

人間アンデルセンの目を通して、

19世紀のコペンハーゲンが目の前に広がります。

残暑厳しい、一夜のお供に・・・・。

You will see 19th century Copenhagen through Andersen’s eyes,

with an element of mystery, suspense and a bit of adventure.

Read it on a hot night when you have trouble sleeping.
